Kirishima curled his tail around himself as he hid in a cave deep in the mountains. It was shameful for a dragon to flee from mortals, even to the point of abandoning his lair. He looked around the dark, damp cave with a mournful gaze, already missing his former lair filled with mountains of treasures.

Kirishima had been minding his own business when armies of soldiers and powerful mages invaded his home, seeking to kill him for his heart. A dragon's heart was a coveted ingredient for mages, and from what he gathered during the battle, it seemed that the emperor of a nearby empire wanted it to extend his lifespan. Typical mortals.

Now, nursing his wounds and feeling his ego bruised and battered, Kirishima wrapped his tail tighter around himself for comfort. He nearly let out a pitiful sound when he felt a small hand on his leg. An intruder?! How could they have approached him without him noticing?

Kirishima yelped and stumbled back, looking down at the mortal who stood before him. It was certainly un-dragon-like to react this way, but he was genuinely surprised. He glanced at his leg and saw that the mortal had healed the gash.

"Are you a healer?" Kirishima asked suspiciously, trying to muster a menacing tone, though it was a moment too late. "What are you trying to do, mortal? If you’re here to kill me, you have no chance," he added proudly, holding his head high despite the situation.
